Following the difficult decision to cancel EMBRAACE, the AACE 29th Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress, AACE has received many kind emails of support and we are very grateful to those of you who have taken the time to write.

We have also received many questions, which we have collected and answered below. Please check back frequently as we will continue to update this page.

On January 31, 2020, the World Health Organization declared that the coronavirus constitutes a “public health emergency of international concern.” The confirmed cases in the DC metro area led the mayor of DC to declare a state of emergency on March 11, 2020, and the Washington DC Department of Health has issued an emergency rulemaking regarding mass gatherings. Similarly, President Trump declared a nationwide state of emergency on March 13, 2020. On Sunday, March 15, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control issued a recommendation that events of more than 50 people scheduled over the next 8 weeks be cancelled or postponed.

In light of these extraordinary government prohibitions on large gatherings of people, and notification from a majority of faculty and a number of attendees that they are under indefinite travel restrictions, AACE leadership determined that it would not be possible to hold an annual meeting this year.

All registrations for EMBRAACE have been cancelled and any cancellation fees will be waived. You can expect to receive a full refund of fees paid within three weeks. If your original form of payment is unable to receive the refunded fees, please contact

All attendee and exhibitor reservations booked through AACE’s housing partner, Connections Housing, have been cancelled and the $100 cancellation fee will be waived. If you booked outside the AACE block, you should contact the hotel directly.

We are unable to provide refunds for personally booked travel expenses. We apologize for any inconvenience and challenges this may cause you. In terms of air travel, many airlines are waiving change fees and updating their policies daily. Please work directly with your airline. If you purchased travel insurance, please contact your provider for information and next steps.
